Spur of the Moment

La Push
Sea Lions at Depot Bay

We surprised the kids with a spur of the moment trip to the coast! They loved it and surprisingly we had a great time. We were only there for not even 24 hours but we had such a great time! We stayed in a hotel, which we didn't get to until 8pm because we decided so late that we were going to go. We all slept like crap but were wide awake the next morning at 7:30. We went and ate the free continental breakfast, checked out of the hotel, and then began our adventure. We played on the beach at Lincoln city for an hour or two. Then we drove to Depot Bay and saw the whales! It was pretty awesome! The kids begged to go on a boat out into the ocean, but me being me, doesn't like the ocean out there and so we casually side stepped that part of the trip. But there's an observatory that has a camera wayyyy telephoted out and you could see all the spouts shooting. It was great! We saw sea lions, pigeons and all sorts of stuff. The kids each got to pick out a shirt and then we were on our way after a 2 hour or so stay in Depot Bay. We headed back to Lincoln City and ate the best Chinese food I've ever eaten I think. YUMMY!! We decided we weren't ready to head home so we went up to Tillamook and ate cheese and Ice Cream! Spencer slept through most of that, but woke up just in time to steal my ice cream cone from me! That's ok though! After an hour or so there we decided we would go and search for "La Push" beach where "Twilight" was filmed. We found it in Cannon Beach at Ecola State Park. It was awesome up there. Absolutely breathtaking views and lots of cool things running around. We got out of the car I looked over and there are 7 elk standing there. Amazing! We saw a bald eagle flying around also. We went and did all of our looking and when we came back there were 15 elk just hanging out by the parking lot. The kids all thought tha was awesome. Well we all did. We haven't been that close to that stuff before! It was a great trip. Little S loved the ocean and wanted to throw rocks into the water. We did pretty well at keeping everyone dry until our last stop! We had a great time and hope to do it again soon!!

An Early Birthday!

S couldn't save it for a couple weeks and give it to me for my birthday. But hey so far I love it and I don't mind not waiting!!! Thanks Hunny I love you!!!!

Chicken Little

J and J had thier 1st grade musical program this last Thursday. Jn auditioned for the part of Chicken Little and made it. We were creative with his costume because I didn't want to spend a bunch on it. I found him a shirt that looked like feathers for his arms...that's a shower scrubbie on his head and his chicken comb is a wad of pipe cleaners that we twisted and formed. He looked so cute. We got his glasses and "feet" orange gloves from the dollar tree. He was a hit. He did great at his part!!! Love ya buddy. Unfortunately Jh had to miss out on his program because he threw up that morning!

A blog update

I have been so bad about updating the blog. Our family has been sick for the past month. All my photos that I wanted to upload got lost somewhere. My hubby downloaded them onto a cd for me and now the cd's disappeared thanks to some lovely children of mine. So, I think I will just do a little recap!!

December~

We spent Christmas in Utah, a hairy ride down, and a LONG one coming back. We thought we'd missed all the crappy weather till we hit Idaho and the traffic on the freeway hit 25 mph. It was solid ice. Thanks to the ice there were many rollovers and slideoffs, but we managed to stay on the road. Outside of Idaho we quickly found out the freeway was shut and we'd be taking the backroads home. A 2 lane highway that was snowy and icy. Fun stuff. Needless to say it took us about 17 hours to get home instead of 11. But we made it safely home!!

January~

We celebrated S's 35th birthday on the 12th.
On the 22nd we celebrated the Twins birthdays at Chuck E Cheeses where Papa and Grammy surprised them. They loved that. Little S wouldn't eat he just wanted to run around and see everything. It took some convincing!!

February~

The 6th was mom and dad's 35th wedding anniversary. We celebrated it at work with a surprise cake and goodies. They had no clue and it was great!!!

We celebrated Little S's 2nd birthday. I can't believe he's 2 already. Boy how the time flies. He was a pro at opening his presents and loved them all. He especially loved the clothes. He also has found a love for Mater and Lightening McQueen from the Cars movie. So his birthday consisted of all Cars stuff. Fun for him! He loved blowing out the candles too and did a marvelous job at it. I didn't make a cake this year cause I had to work and I was sick and being lazy so we had cinnamon rolls that works just as well!

I rescued a cat that was hanging around the bar one evening. He is such a sweetheart. I brought him home and the other cat hates him, but that was to be expected. The only problem now is we can't find him. He's always gone outside and come right back in but now we don't know where he went, maybe someone else took him. The kids are sad. He was a lap cat!! Oh well I guess.

And who would have guessed that at the end of February we would get a snow storm. Normally by now we are heating up into the 50's. It wasn't a bad one and did cover the roads, but it was kind of nice to see.

And here we are to March. Still trying to get over being sick! Everyone in the family has been sick for a month. The kids all missed probably a week and a half of school. It's been crazy! We have been trying to get everyone feeling better and get back into the routine of the day ( which was thrown out almost everyday we weren't feeling well). I will try and keep up the blogging better. If I can find my cd I will download some pics!
